課程概述 |
Overall objective: Detail understanding of the fundamental thermodynamic and kinetic controls on the composition of natural waters and the response of natural waters to various physico-chemical parameters. Applications to environmental processes and oceanography, solving numerical problems related to the reactions in natural waters, and analytical techniques for the characterization of natural waters. |
課程目標 |
Unit 1: Review of Thermodynamic Principles
Briefly review some of the important principles of thermodynamics. These include the concepts of chemical equilibrium, Gibbs free energy as a criterion of equilibrium, Equilibrium constant and review Le Chatlier's Principle, Concept of activity and the activity coefficient, Gibbs free energy of reaction and the equilibrium constant, Van't Hoff equation.
